Real-life sentences

A lot of the examples in the Clauses section of Grammar for Teachers are very short and simple - sentences like Elephants like grass. But real-life sentences are usually a lot longer and more complicated.

Three types of sentence
We can divide sentences into three broad groups according to the number of clauses they contain and how these clauses are linked together.
