Using this guide

This guide is based on the first 40 pages of Grammar for Teachers. These provide a straightforward and clear introduction to the basics of English grammar. They are designed to be read in sequence:
 

• Introduction
• Clause patterns
• Noun phrases
• Verbs
• Adverbials
• Sentences

So if you want to work methodically, you should go through the material in that order, which is reflected in the menu bar on the left of each page.
