Adverbials
Adverbials are elements in a clause, and they do three main jobs:
- Many of them provide additional information, answering questions such as:
Where? When? How? Why? These adverbials are referred to as adjuncts.
- Some adverbials help to link sentences together in a text.
These are referred to as conjuncts.
- Other adverbials enable the writers and speakers to make little comments about what they are communicating.
These are known as disjuncts.
